Our story
Learn about the story of furnipart – from the beginning and until present day
1977
furnipart is founded by Lars Ole Hansen, who converts two bedrooms inside his private home into offices and hires a single employee.
1979
furnipart grows and Lars Ole Hansen moves furnipart into bigger premises. The company now occupies 160 m2.
1985
Investments are made in the design of handles using in-house tools, creating the entire foundation for furnipart’s current and future collections. The handles are made from metal, where previously they were primarily made from plastic and wood.
1995
furnipart grows and production is outsourced. furnipart sends designs and tools to external production facilities.
2001
With the outsourcing of production there is an increasing need for warehouse space and architect Tommy Falch is asked to design the current main office in Hinnerup.
2004
Rasmus Byriel joins as co-owner and partner.
2005
More and more handles are developed and designed by both Danish and international designers. This means there is an increasing need to secure furnipart’s intellectual property rights in Denmark and abroad.
2007
Quality assurance and quality management become increasingly important. furnipart employs personnel to carry out quality assurance tasks in production and this becomes an important supplement to the quality control that is carried out in Hinnerup, where the company carries out testing in its own laboratory.
2008
Rasmus Byriel joins furnipart as a partner and CEO. Thus begins a gradual change in ownership. Lars Ole Hansen ceases to manage the company on a daily basis but continues as chairman of the board of directors.
2013
furnipart is now a market leader in Northern Europe. Turnover exceeds tens of millions in Euros. furnipart products are sold all over the world through a network of dealers in more than 50 countries.
2018
furnipart begins its journey to attain sustainable production. This results in Cradle to Cradle™ certification of all of its aluminium profiles. Certification guarantees that the production’s environmental impact is at an absolute minimum and there is clear documentation showing furnipart’s work in transitioning to a circular economy.
2019
furnipart is nominated as Digital SME of the Year: Transformation – a new award that the Danish government awards to an SME that has undergone a major digital transformation.
2020
furnipart officially launches its AutoStore warehouse robot, which further increases warehouse capacity and enables the main office to remain in Hinnerup.
2022
In March this year, furnipart gets their second Cradle to Cradle certificate. Handles in zamac in the two colours inox and matt black are now certified, which means that 75% of our products are now certified at bronze level.
In June, founder Lars Ole Hansen chooses to execute the planned generational shift. He steps out of the board as well, and CEO Rasmus Byriel takes over the ownership and welcomes the private equity fund, Blue Equity as co-owner.
2023
VONSILD is being acquired.
