FREDERIK KARLSSON

Fredrik Karlsson is the founder of Galerie North, a Stockholm-based gallery specializing in Scandinavian and European mid-century design. The gallery also includes GN Studio, through which he designs private residences and engages in creative collaborations both in Sweden and internationally. 

To Fredrik, a home is not just a place to stay and sleep—it is a place to look forward to returning to and to enjoy spending time in, whether alone or with family. He appreciates a more minimalistic environment and aesthetic, and strongly believes that contrasts are essential in making a room or home feel more interesting and alive.

For the past 15 years, he has been collecting art and design, a passion that eventually led him to his current profession. The vintage pieces in his home each tell their own story and possess a distinct soul. Decades of use—ranging from 50 to 80 years—have given these objects a unique character and created a striking contrast to the newly renovated apartment he shares with his family.

Over the past several years and across three different homes, Fredrik has consistently used knobs and handles from furnipart. One of his favorite designs is the Autumn 28 mm in black. Its minimalistic look complements the kitchen and wardrobes perfectly, while the black finish adds contrast to the lighter walls and detailing.
