Canadian-born Steve McGugan has worked as an industrial designer in Denmark since 1982. His clients include Georg Jensen and Philippi GmbH, and Bang & Olufsen, for whom he created the iconic Form2 earphones in 1985. He has proven experience in design, winning several awards and is included in the permanent design collection at the MoMa in New York with the earphones he designed for Bang & Olufsen.
Steve McGugan says that his designs are simple and original with ultimate focus on the end user. This is clearly seen in his two designs for furnipart. For example, a handle like BASE, which is a design exercise in taking the simplest of handle shapes – a bent rod – and removing material to create a new shape with a simple and characteristic design that can fit into many different interiors.
